In 1525, St. Angela Merici, the intrepid pilgrim of hope unseen, joined a small cohort from Brescia traveling to Rome for the Holy Year. Beyond the innate challenges of pilgrimage, the journey traversed a plague-ridden countryside and the volatile landscape of warlords and sectarian strife. Immersed in the communion of saints as she visited the holy sites in Rome, a chance encounter allowed Angela an audience with Pope Clement VII.  Graciously declining his invitation to remain in Rome, with his blessing she returned to Brescia.

On Christmas Eve 2024, Pope Francis opened the door to Jubilee 2025 which will conclude on Epiphany in 2026. For Ursulines, this Holy Year inaugurates an Angeline Decade, 2025-2035, to culminate in the 500^th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Company of Saint Ursula.
